All nature of cases. In practice that means constitutional and writ matters, corporate and commercial work, retained and outsourced legal work for businesses, civil and property disputes, labour and employment, foreign investment and FDI approvals, tax and compliance, arbitration and dispute resolution, family matters, and criminal defence. If your matter falls outside what we handle, we will say so at the first meeting rather than after you have paid.

Working since 1959 AD. Singh Law Company was founded by the late Kunj Bihari Prasad Singh, Senior Advocate, holder of Licence No. 10, a former Member of Parliament and a recipient of the Gorkha Dakshina Bahu, the King's Medal. Over that period the chamber has handled above 50,000 cases, and its contribution to the restoration of Parliament was recognised with the President's Award.

Yes. A number of corporate houses, including five-star hotels, use this chamber as their legal department rather than employing one. A retainer typically covers contract drafting and review, statutory and regulatory compliance, employment and HR matters, notices and replies, and appearances when a matter reaches a court or tribunal. The scope and the monthly fee are fixed in writing before the arrangement starts.

Nepali, Hindi and English. Explain your matter in whichever language you are most comfortable in, because details get lost when clients translate for themselves.

Bring whatever paper you already have, even if it is incomplete. For property matters, the lalpurja and any sale or partition deeds. For company matters, the registration certificate, PAN and the contract in question. For labour matters, your appointment letter, salary slips and any termination notice. For court matters, every notice or order you have received. A short written timeline of what happened, in date order, is more useful than most people expect.

Fees depend on the nature of the matter, the forum it goes to and how long it is likely to run. We discuss the fee with you at the outset and agree it before any work begins, so that you are not surprised later. Court fees, registration charges and other government costs are separate and are payable to the relevant office.

Yes. We handle foreign direct investment approvals, industry and company registration, Nepal Rastra Bank recording, business and non-tourist visas, and repatriation questions, as well as property and family matters for Non-Resident Nepalis and foreign nationals living abroad. Initial consultation can be done by phone, WhatsApp or email, and we will tell you clearly which steps genuinely require your physical presence in Nepal and which do not.

Yes, without exception. Everything you disclose to us, from the first conversation onward, is protected by professional privilege and is not discussed outside the chamber. That applies whether or not you go on to engage us.

Usually not. Your advocate appears on your behalf for most hearings. You will need to attend where the law or the court specifically requires your presence, for example to give a statement or evidence, and we will tell you well in advance when those dates are.

It depends on the forum and on how contested the matter is. Some commercial and family matters settle by agreement in weeks. A fully contested civil or property suit, with appeal, can run for years in the Nepali court system. At the first meeting we will give you a realistic range rather than a comfortable one, along with the points at which the matter could realistically be settled.

Yes. We handle name reservation and incorporation at the Office of the Company Registrar, drafting of the memorandum and articles, PAN and VAT registration, and the local registrations that follow, along with the shareholder or joint venture agreement if there is more than one owner. For foreign shareholders we also handle Department of Industry approval and Nepal Rastra Bank recording under our FDI practice.
